St. Anthony Third At Blastoff Girls Golf Classic; Altamont Boys Win

ALTON -- Effingham St. Anthony High School captured third place at the Alton Marquette Blastoff Girls Golf Classic Saturday at Spencer T. Olin  Golf Course.

Alton Marquette won with 313 strokes followed by O’Fallon 320, St. Anthony 343, Waterloo 353, Belleville East 370, Mascoutah 378, Quincy Notre Dame 383, Father McGivney 383, Collinsville 388, Belleville West 394, Alton 416, Effingham 416, Litchfield 429, Breese Central 434, Bethalto Civic Memorial 450, Roxana 453 and Dupo 473.

Alton Marquette’s Gracie Piar finished with a career best six-under-par 66 for medalist honors. Alton Marquette had two other players in the top 10, Audrey Cain tied for third with a 78 and Ava Bartosiak tied for eighth with an 81. There were 108 players in the field.

The top 10 received medals. St. Anthony’s Lauren Schwing shot an 82 and finished ninth while Ellie Wegman finished 10th with an 81. Other counting scores were 89’s shot by Nina Hakman and Addie Krouse. Non-counting scores were Maddy Brummer with a 91 and Allison Geen with a 105.

“This was probably the toughest course we play on all year and one we were not familiar with, so I am very pleased with all of our scores and with our third place finish in this tournament,” said St. Anthony Coach Randy Blake.

Teutopolis had three players compete. Abigail Wortman had a 106, Mollie Koester 117 and Josie Deters 129.

 

At Flora

Altamont claimed a victory over host Flora in golf at the Flora Golf Course Friday, 168-177.

Altamont’s Kevin Hall earned medalist honors with a 37. Also scoring were Avery Jahraus third with a 40, Tyler Stonecipher sixth with a 44 and Gavyn Smith eighth with a 41.

Non-counting scores were Max Runge with a 50 and Alec Jahraus with a 56 and Madison Splechter had a 58.

Scoring for Flora were Osborne fourth and Collins fourth with a 43 each, Leonard sixth with a 44 and Spitzner eighth with a 47.

Non-counters were Stanford 10th with a 49 and Booth 12th with a 53.

Cisne had one golfer, Atwood who finished second with a 38.
