St. A Wins Own Boys Golf Invitational

The Bulldogs tied with Vandalia for first place with 316 strokes but won on the fifth golfer's score. St. Anthony's fifth golfer had an 87 while Vandalia's fifth golfer had a 98.

"We have had a solid start to our season the past two days," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "Hats off to Indian Springs as the golf course was in beautiful shape.

"Nick Burgess has had two good days of play for us and Ryker Schneider bounced back big today and had a good round of 84. Jett Volpi has played two good rounds as they are his first two times playing competitively. I am excited for the season as we will have a lot of things to build on over the next few weeks."

Vandalia captured the top two individual spots as Chase Laack scored a 71 followed by teammate Connor McCall with a 73. Decatur St. Theresa's Cody Dodson was third with a 73 followed in the top 10 by St. Anthony's Jonathan Willenborg 74, Oblong's Jake Smothers 74, Paris' Luke Bradley 75, St. Anthony's Thomas Chojnicki 76, Father McGivney's Joe Tyen 78 and Brandon Reed 79 and Breese Central's Konnor Kueper 79.
