EHS, St. A Girls Are Winners, Golf Roundup

Effingham and St. Anthony both claimed girls golf victories Tuesday.

The Hearts played host to Mount Zion and was a 199-207 winner. Effingham's Anna Boehm was medalist with a 40. Also scoring were Anna Sigg 47, Marah Kirk 55 and Annie Frost 57. Non-counters were Ella Niebrugge 57 and Anna Hirtzel 59.

Scoring for the Braves were Kenzie Shumate 47, Bethany Warner 52, Lauren Kyburz 53 and Peyton Graves 55. Non-counting scores were Emily Lewis 58 and Kennedy Highley 68.

In a match at the Vandalia Country Club, the Bulldogs picked up a triangular win scoring 156 followed by Shelbyville 209 and Vandalia 231.

St. Anthony's Morgan Schuette was medalist with a 37 while NIna Hakman was one stroke behind with a 38. Macy Ludwig tallied a 40 and Ellie Wegman a 41. Lauren Schwing and Reagan Westendorf finished with 41.

Socirng for Shelbyville were Emily Oligschlaeger with a 47, Emma Houska with a 49, Sophie Trainer with a 54 and Ryann Wood with a 59.

Scoring for Vandalia were Hannah Warner 51, Jadie Keck 54, Ashtyn Ferguson 62 and McKenzie Justice 64.

:We had some very impressive scores," said St. Anthony coach Randy Blake. "All six players shot 41 or better on a course none of us had ever seen before today."

 

At Vandalia

The St. Anthony boys squad finished second in a quadrangular meet at the Vandalia Country Club.

The Vandals won with a 144 followed by St. Anthony 163, Macon Meridian 200 and Shelbyville 213.

Medalist was Vandalia's Riley Ruckman with a 34. Also scoring for the Vandals were Connor McCall 35, Dylan Halford 36 and Jonah Beesley 39. Non-counters were Jacob Schaal 39 and Chase Laack 40.

Scoring for St. Anthony were Thomas Chojnicki 36, Jonathan Willenborg 38, Lane Ludwig 44 and Michael Martelli 45. Charlie Wegman had a 45, Grant Nuxoll 47 and Aidan Tegeler 49.

Scoring for Macon Meridian were Grahm Meisenhelter 44, Lucas Clapp 50, Riley Day 52 and Mitch Ripple 54. Non-counters were Drew Hurelbrink 54 and Grant Meisenhelter 56.

Scoring for Shelbyville were Matt Grabb 45, Chance Billingsley 52, Bo Hilbert 53 and Gabe Dove 63. Non-counter was Owen Hedderich 65.

 

At Effingham

Effingham played host to Charleston in an Apollo Conference matchup at the Effingham Country Club and fell to the Trojans, 170-180 Tuesday.

Scoring for the Hearts were Ryker Schneider 44, Preston Latch 45, Ethan Ritz 45 and Nick Burgess 46. Non-counters were Max Woelfer 48 and Colby Haynes, David Splechter and Jack Blickem who tallied 55 each.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis played host to Robinson at Cardinal Golf Course and the two teams tied at 197-197. The match was then decided by the fifth score which went to the Wooden Shoes.

Co-medalists were T-town's Gabe Schlink and Robinson's Cole Johnson with a 47 each. Also scoring for the Shoes were Hayden Jansen 48, Andy Niebrugge 49 and Zac Niebrugge 53. The tiebreaking score was a 53 by Ethan Thoele. Bennet Thompson had a 55.

Scoring for Robinson with Johnson were Nick Weber 48, Taylor Maxwell 48 and Nathan Wente 54. The fifth tiebreaker was Will Prindable with a 57. Non-counter was Joe Quick with a 65.
