Effingham High School finished sixth at the Mt. Zion Tournament Friday afternoon.

EHS finished with a 354 team total. The counters were Max Woelfer 41-44=85, Colby Haynes 43-45=88, Ryker Schneider 48-41=89, and Preston Latch 47-45=92. Also competing for Effingham: Nick Burgess 57-48=105, and Ethan Ritz 61-52=113.

Team totals:

Mattoon 332, Mt. Zion 341, Charleston 349, Sullivan 350, Maroa-Forsyth 351, Effingham 354, St. Teresa 360, Lincoln 371, and Clinton 402.

Hearts Coach Jeff Schafer said, "This was a really good outing for us; we only finished five shots out of a Top 3 finish; we had one person playing their first 18-hole match and two others playing their second, so our results were much better than expected. We just have to keep trying to improve everyday and not worry about our score. Max, Colby and Preston all had their lowest rounds of their careers."

EHS is back in action Monday in the St. Anthony match play event.
