St. Anthony finished third at the Aurora Rosary Invitational Saturday.

AURORA -- Effingham St. Anthony High School took third at the Aurora Rosary Girls Golf Invitational Saturday.

Winning the meet was Burlington Central with a 327 score followed by Central 334, St. Anthony 343, St. Francis 353, St. Charles East 355, Huntley 357, Lemont 360, Wheaton South 362, Nazareth 375, Beecher 379, Geneva 379, Wheaton North 384, Rolling Meadows 387, Batavia 392, Schaumburg 394, Aurora Central Catholic 395, name unreadable 398, Fenwick 400, Glenbard West 404, Bement 413, Oswego 414, Glenbard South 425, West Chicago 433, Marist 439 and Niles West 513.

Macy Ludwig finished eighth for the Bulldogs with an 80. Also scoring were Ellie Wegman 85, Morgan Schuette 88 and Lauren Schwing 90. Non-counting score was Reagan Westendorf 90.

 

At Taylorville

Effingham St. Anthony finished third while Effingham was sixth at the Taylorville Boys Golf Invitational Saturday.

Winning was Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 321 followed by Jacksonville 328, St. Anthony 347, Chatham Glenwood 347, Lincoln 347, Effingham 349, Mount Zion 353, Taylorville 389, Williamsville 392, Hillsboro 393, Greenview 413 and Rochester 420.

Medalist was Jacksonville's Brady Kaufmann with a 74. Effingham's Tate Niebrugge tied for fifth with an 81. Jonathan Willenborg finished 10th for St. Anthony with an 83.

Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Jayden Rios tied for 19th with 41-46 -- 87, Thomas Chojnicki tied for 19th with 45-42 --87 and Michael Martelli tied for 27th with 46-44 -- 90. Non-counters were Darin Hutchison 50-49 -- 99 and Aidan Tegeler 46-53 -- 99.

Scoring for the Hearts along with Niebrugge were Ryker Schneider tied for 19th with an 87, Aiden Beck tied for 25th with an 89 and Ben Donsbach tied for 31st with a 92. Non-counting scores were Austin Waldhoff and Nick Burgess tied for 33rd with a 93 each.

 

At Champaign

Effingham captured seventh place in the 15-team field at the John Macek Girls Golf Tournament put on by Champaign Centennial Saturday.

New Trier won the team title with a 307 score followed by Prospect 315, Bloomington Central Catholic 317, Normal Community 319, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 129, Edwardsville 331, Effingham 338, Belleville West 364, Charleston 386, Monticello 386, Champaign Central 394, Bloomington 421 and Galesburg 468. Champaign Centennial and Mattoon did not have enough golfers for a team score.

Winning the individual title was Mattoon's Kira Wolf with a 69.

Scoring for the Hearts were Ava Boehm tied for 11th with an 80, Kennedy Collier tied for 12th with an 81, Anna Sigg 18th with an 88 and Morgan Krouse tied for 19th with an 89. Non-counters were Jaelyn Boone 32nd with a 104 and Anna Hirtzel 36th with a 109.
