Bulldogs Fifth At Raider/Redbird Golf Tourney

BLOOMINGTON -- Effingham St. Anthony High School continued its impressive start to the season by placing fifth at the Bloomington Raider/Redbird Golf Invitational Tuesday.

Held at a bustery D.A. Weibring Golf Course, the Bulldogs handled the conditions to fire a 318. Winning the invitational was Peoria Notre Dame with 300 followed by Macomb 304, Normal U. High 304, Bloomington 308, St. Anthony 318, Wheaton Academy 322, Champaign Central 333, St. Viator One 335, East Peoria 339, Rockton Hononegah 339,  Lincoln 344, Mount Zion 344, Bartonville-Limestone 351, Mattoon 354, Marion Catholic 358, Peoria Richwoods 387 and St. Viator Two 436.

Bulldog senior Jayden Rios and Luke Flaig shot 78's to lead the scoring. Sophomore Thomas Chojnicki birdied two of his last three holes to shoot 79. Freshman Jonathan Willenborg rounded out the scoring with an 83.

Medalist was Peoria Notre Dame's Mike Wales with a 69. Second went to Normal U High's Griffin McClusky with a 72. There was a five-way tie at 72 with a scoreboard playoff.

The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday at the Gary Saunders Invitational in Macomb.
