Bulldogs Second at Girls, Boys Golf Tourneys, EHS Girls Seventh, Boys Eighth

The Effingham St. Anthony High School girls golf squad finished second out of 24 teams in the Aurora Rosary Golf Invitational Saturday.
Leading the Bulldogs were Macy Ludwig with a 73, Ava Wegman 82, Clare McHugh 85 and Morgan Schuette 85. Ludwig tied for fourth place individually.
Not scoring was Reagan Westendorf with a 98.
Lincolnway Central captured the team championship with a 289.
At Taylorville
St. Anthony captured second place at the Taylorville Boys Golf Tournament while Effingham finished eighth Saturday.
Jacksonville won the tourney witha 319 followed by St. Anthony 320, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 334, Rochester 338, Springfield 341, Chatham-Glenwood 343, Lincoln 352, Effingham 371, Taylorville 376, Mount Zion 378 and Williamsville 515.
Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin's Reid Taylor was medalist with a 74. St. Anthony's Luke Ludwig took third with a 76 while Zach Wortman was sixth with an 81, Luke Flaig seventh with an 81 and Jayden Rios eighth with an 82. Non-counting scores were Nathan Schultz 82 and Ben Strullmyer 88.
No scores were turned in for Effingham.
At Champaign
The Effingham girls golf squad finished seventh in the Champaign Centennial Tournament Saturday.
Winning was New Trier with 307 followed by Prospect 322, Normal Community 328, Edwardsville 337, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 339, Bloomington Central Catholic 347, Effingham 359, Mattoon 379, Charleston 392, Belleville West 400, Champaign Central 402, Champaign Centennial 408, Monticello 417, Galesburg 420 and Bloomington 427. Lincoln did not have enough golfers for a team score.
New Trier's Penelope Tir was medalist with a 66. Effingham's Ava Boehm finished with an 80 followed by Abbi Burgess 82, Keira Hirtzel 88 and Kennedy Collier 89. Not scoring were Anna Sigg with a 104 and Morgan Krouse with a 107.
