EHS Girls, T-town Boys Claim Golf Wins

Effingham High School claimed a 171-198 victory over host Sullivan at the Sullivan Country Club Wednesday in golf action.

The Hearts' Abbi Burgess was medalist with a 41 followed by Ava Boehm 42, Kennedy Collier 42 and Morgan Krouse 46. Non-counters were Keira Hirtzel 47 and Anna Sigg 57.

Sullivan was led by Alexis Britton with a 47 followed by Addison Darush 49, Esther Miller 50 and Irie Dulin 52. Non-counters were Ally Elzy 67 and Madison Atchison 69.

In the boys meet, the Hearts fell to host Sullivan 167-189.

Medalist was Sullivan's Caden Ellis with a 38. Effingham's Tate Niebrugge finished second with a 42.

Also scoring for the Hearts were Aiden Beck 44, Ben Donsbach 50 and Austin Waldhoff 53. Non-counters were Colby Heaton 53 and Nick Burgess 55.

Scoring for Sullivan, along with Ellis, were Leighton Burcham 42, Drew Rogers 43 and Layton Ellis 44. Non-counters were Tim Lawyer 46 and Dalton Rogers 63.

Effingham drops to 4-6 on the season while Sullivan remained unbeaten with a 17-0 record.

At Effingham

The Teutopolis High School boys golf squad edged Salem 178-179 in action at the Effingham Country Club Wednesday.

Jacob Herd tallied a 42 while Carter Jansen chipped in with a 43. Drew Kerner added a 44 and Asa Hanson finished out the scoring with a 49.

Non-counting scores were Derek Ozyenkoski 53, Andy Niebrugge 57, Zach Ruholl 48 and Gavin Meyer 62.

At Olney

Effingham St. Anthony's junior varsity competed in a boys and girls meet at the East Richland Country Club Wednesday.

In the boys meet, Olney won with a 176 followed by St. Anthony 182 and Mount Carmel 194.

Mount Carmel's Wade Ruth was medalist with a 38. St. Anthony's Thomas Chojnicki came in second with a 39. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Jayden Rios 44, Ryan Schultz 45 and Darin Hutchison 54.

Scoring for Olney were Logan Muston 41, Zach Duenas 45, Ethan Rogers 45 and Jayden Moyes 45. Non-counters were Mitchell Tolliver 46 and Ryan Tolliver 51.

Scoring for Mount Carmel, along with with Ruth, were Clayton Halbig 48, Jarrett West 54 and Max Zimmerman 54. Non-counters were Jonas Kieffer 55 and Andrew Goldman 56.

In the girls meet, St. Anthony claimed a 187-229 win over Olney.

The Bulldog's Jessica Coffin was medalist with a 40 while teammate Morgan Schuette took second with a 46. Also scoring were Nina Hakman 50 and Cara Hakman 51. Non-counters were Abby Dietzen 53 and Abby Repking 55.

Scoring for Olney were Madeline McKinny 46, Abigail Nealis 52, Haven Fryman 65 and Kali Hinterscher 66. Non-counter was Rayne Goff 77.
