St. A Girls Golf Nabs Invite Title, Boys Second at Meet

The St. Anthony girls golf squad captured first place at Tuscola.
TUSCOLA -- Effingham St. Anthony High School captured first place in the Tuscola Girls Golf Invitational Monday.
The Bulldogs tallied 172. Scoring were Morgan Schuette and Nina Hakman with an 84 each and Abby Repking and Jessica Coffin with an 88 each.
Schuette and Hakman captured first place individually.
The Bulldogs won this same invitational last year with a 177 total.
At Champaign
St. Anthony and Effingham competed in the Jon Macek Invitational at the University of Illinois Orange Course.
Charleston won the meet with 297 followed by St. Anthony 319, Sullivan 325, Champaign Centennial 337, Champaign Central 344, Bloomington 347, Mattoon 352, Taylorville 363, Monticello 387, Effingham 397, Bismarck-Henning 397, Champaign Centennial N. 461 and Danville 522.
Charleston's Ben Lanman captured medalist honors with a 68. St. Anthony's Luke Ludwig took fourth with a 39-36 -- 75.
Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Luke Flaig 40-39 -- 79, Ben Strullmyer 38-41 -- 79 and Zach Wortman 45-41 -- 86. Non-counting scores were Nathan Schultz 48-39 -- 87 and Jayden Rios 43-46 -- 89.
