Bulldogs Fourth at Golf Invitational

MACOMB -- Effingham St. Anthony High School captured fourth place at the Gary Saunders Macomb Boys Golf Invitational Saturday.
Winning was Port Byron with 305 points followed by Macomb 311, Hillsboro 320, St. Anthony 320, Bloomington Central Catholic 321, Alleman 324, Bloomington 345, Rochester 347, Pleasant Plains 396, Davenport Assumption 392, Olympia 399, Monmouth-Roseville 407 and Pittsfield 420.
Anthony Ruthy of Port Byron captured medalist honors with a 67.
St. Anthony's Luke Ludwig finished fifth with a 36-38 -- 74. Other scorers for the Bulldogs were Nathan Schultz 40-41 -- 81, Ben Strullmyer 39-42 -- 81 and Jayden Rios 44-40 -- 84. Non-counting scores were Zach Wortman 44-45 -- 89 and Luke Flaig 44-50 -- 94.
In Thursday action at Bent Tree Golf Course, Charleston's junior varsity team defeated St. Anthony's junior varsity squad, 175-181.
St. Anthony competitors were Thomas Chojnicki, who earned medalist honors, 39, Ryan Schutlz 40, Alex Erickson 51, Darin Hutchison 51 and Dylan Ferguson 52.
Scoring for Charleston were Smith 42, Will 42, Jo. Becker 43, Ja. Becker 48, Drake 50 and Seaton 51.
