Bulldogs Take Fourth at Raider/Redbird Boys Golf Invite

Effingham St. Anthony High School finished fourth out of 22 teams at the Raider/Redbird Boys Golf Invitational Tuesday.
Peoria Notre Dame was the champion with a 295 followed by Rockton-Honnegah 304, St. Viator No. 1 306, St. Anthony 308, Normal U-High 316, Kaneland 318, St. Viator No. 2 321, St. Rita 322, Macomb 324, Wheaton Academy 324, Peoria Richwoods 331, Lincoln 333, Bloomington 336, East Peoria 336, Champaign Centennial 339, Mattoon 350, Harlem 358, Champaign Central 370, Mount Zion 378, Davenport-Assumption 380, Marian Catholic 381 and Bartonville-Limestone 383.
St. Anthony's Luke Ludwig captured medalist honors with a 36-32 -- 68. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Nathan Schultz 38-38 -- 76, Jayden Rios 39-42 -- 81 and Ben Strullmyer 42-41 -- 83. Non-counting scores were Zach Wortman 41-44 -- 85 and Luke Flaig 44-41 -- 85.
"Very competitive tournament, mostly 2A and 3A schools," said St. Anthony Coach Phil Zaccari. "We held our own, finishing a very respectable fourth. Senior Luke Ludwig claimed overall individual honors with a three-under-par 68. Nathan Schultz also finished in the top 10 with a 76."
