St. A Girls Team, EHS' Burgess, Boehm Advance To State

ALTON -- Effingham St. Anthony High School nabbed a third place finish as a team and advanced to the Class 1A State Golf Tournament.
Metropolis Massac County won the team title at the Class 1A Alton Marquette Sectional Monday with a 336 followed by Nashville 352 and St. Anthony 358. Metropolis' Millie Lawson was medalist with a 75.
Effingham's Abbi Burgess tied for fifth place with an 86 and will advance as an individual. Also advancing is Ava Boehm who tied for seventh place with a score of 88.
Scoring for the Bulldogs were Macy Ludwig 85, Clare McHugh 87, Ava Wegman 90 and Reagan Westendorf 96. Non-counting scores were Morgan Schuette 96 and Jessica Coffin 106.
The Bulldogs and Burgess advance to the Class 1A State Tournament at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur this coming Friday and Saturday.
