St. Anthony, EHS Girls Squads Advance to Sectionals

The St. Anthony and Effingham High School girls golf squads have advanced to sectionals.
The Bulldogs girls won the event and the Hearts girls finished second at Wednesday's regional at Effingham Country Club.
St. Anthony won with a 335 total, 31 strokes better than the Hearts' squad's 367 total. Highland finished third with a 379 total. The top three squads advance to Sectional.

Teutopolis just missed advancing, finishing fourth with a 427 total, followed by Greenville, Ramsey, Sandoval, Breese Central and Breese Mater Dei.
St. Anthony junior Clare McHugh was medalist, firing a 78.
Also for St. Anthony: junior Ava Wegman 81, freshman Macy Ludwig 82, freshman Morgan Schuette 94, sophomore Jessica Coffin 96, and junior Regan Koester 97.
Effingham's scores: junior Abbi Burgess 88, sophomore Kennedy Collier 91, junior Keira Hirtzel 94, freshman Ava Boehm 94, sophomore Morgan Krouse 96, and senior Lindsey Stephenson 97.
Three area players advanced to sectionals as individuals.
Teutopolis junior Madeline Hoene shot a 101 and Teutopolis junior Allie Niebrugge fired a 102 and both advance, while Altamont junior Addie Smith shot a 105 and moves on to sectionals.
Other Teutopolis scores were: Mattie Thoele 110, Madison Magee 114, Averie Bushue 119 and Macy Vogt 123.
