TAYLORVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony High School took second while Effingham was fifth at the Taylorville Boys Golf Invitational Saturday.

Hillsboro won the team championship with 323 followed by St. Anthony 334, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 342, Chatham Glenwood 347, Effingham 348, Rochester 349, Springfield 354, Williamsville 347, Mount Zion 360, Taylorville 378, Lincoln 385, Jacksonville 12 and Mahomet-Seymour 432.

Hillsboro's Alex White was the medalist with a 75 at Lake Shore Golf Course. St. Anthony's Luke Ludwig took third with a 40-37 -- 77 while Effingham's Jacob Sigg was fourth with a 78. St. Anthony's Ben Strullmyer finished out 10th with a 41-42 -- 83.

Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Dylan Ferguson 46-40 -- 86 and Nathan Schultz 44-44 -- 88. Non-counting score was Zach Wortman with a 47-47 -- 94.

 

At Champaign

Effingham High School took fourth place in the John Macek Memorial Golf Tournament at the University of Illinois Blue Golf Course in Savoy Saturday out of 14 teams.

Prospect and Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin claimed the team championship with a 317 each followed by Normal Community 326, Effingham 340, Champaign Central 350, Charleston 352, Mattoon 377, Bloomimgton 393,  Belleville West 396, Lincoln 413, Normal West 415, Monticello 417 and Champaign Centennial 420. Galesburg competed but did not have enough for a team score.

Mattoon's Kiera Wolf was medalist with a 73.

Scoring for the Hearts were Ava Boehm with a 78 for eighth place overall, Keira Hirtzel with an 85, Abbi Burgess with a 88 and Morgan Krouse with an 88. Non-counters were Kennedy Collier with a 91 and Lindsey  Stephenson 110.
