Hearts Win Triangular Girls Golf, EHS, St. A Compete in Big Meets

Effingham High School took a triangular girls golf meet over Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis in action Friday at Cardinal Golf Course.

The Hearts tallied 174 followed by St. Anthony 177 and T-town 204.

Medalist was Effingham's Abbi Burgess with a 41. Also scoring for the Hearts were Ava Boehm and Kennedy Collier with a 44 each and Keira Hirtzel with a 45. Non-counters were Morgan Kruse 52 and Lindsey Stephenson 57.

St. Anthony's scorers were Clare McHugh 43, Macy Ludwig 44, Morgan Schuette 45 and Jessica Coffin 45. Non-counter was Ava Wegman with a 46.

Scoring for T-town were Allie Niebrugge 48, Madison Magee 49, Mattie Thoele 52 and Averie Bushue 55. Non-counters were Maddie Hoene 56 and Macy Vogt 59.

 

At Centralia

St. Anthony finished eighth out of 16 teams in the Centralia Better Ball Boys Golf Invitational Saturday at Greenview Golf Club in Centralia.

Winning the team championship was Centralia with 221 followed by Carbondale 223, Highland 225, O'Fallon 227, Herrin 231, Marion 233, Granite City 233, St. Anthony 235, Belleville East 238, Nashville 238, Collinsville 239, Salem 245, Belleville West 245, Mascoutah 245, Mount Vernon 254 and Alton 266.

First individually went to Zach Williams and Andrew Washby of Mount Vernon with a 65.

Scoring for the Bulldogs were Luke Ludwig-Jayden Rios with a 36-38 -- 75 and Nathan Schultz-Ben Strullmyer 40-41 -- 81.

 

At Charleston

Effingham finished ninth out of 13 teams at the Ninth Annual Trojan Fall Golf Classic at the Charleston Country Club Friday.

Charleston won its own meet with a 307 followed by Mattoon 322, Rantoul/Paxton-Buckley-Loda 334, Champaign Centennial 340, Monticello 344, Lawrenceville 353, Charleston Gold 355, Danville 368, Effingham 370, Olney 378, Paris 383, Mount Zion 389 and Bloomington 413. Urbana did not have enough for a team score.

First place individually went to Mattoon's Nick Nguyen with a 75.

Effingham scores were Jacob Sigg 88, Aiden Beck 88, Tate Niebrugge 92, Ryan Sandifer 102 and Colby Heaton 113.
