Hearts, Shoes Claim Golf Match Wins

Effingham High School claimed a girls quadrangular golf victory while the boys fell in Tuesday action.

The Hearts tallied a 192 followed by Pana 229 and Mount Zion 246 in girls competition. Medalist was Effingham's Abbi Burgess with a 46. Also scoring were Keira Hirtzel 48, Kennedy Collier 49 and Lindsey Stephenson 49. Non-counting scores were Ava Boehm 52 and Morgan Krouse 53.

Pana was led by Teagan Strom 49, Hannah LeDuc 57, Emma Dilley 60 and Chloe Hendrickson 63. Non-counters were Josie Pauley 64 and Lizzie Eppley 65.

Mount Zion was led by Blake with a 54 followed by Shafer 58, Lutt 67 and House 67. Non-counter was Kyburz 69.

Effingham is now 6-3 on the season and back in action today hosting Sullivan.

Iin the boys match, Charleston came calling at the Effingham Country Club and captured a 145-176 win.

Medalist was Charleston's Ben Lanman with a 34. The Trojans improve to 18-0 on the season.

Effingham was led by Jacob Sigg 41, Tate Niebrugge 43, Aiden Beck 45 and Brett Koester 47. Non-counter was Colby Heaton 62. All three of the Hearts' losses this season have come at the hands of Charleston.

EHS is back in action today hosting Sullivan.

 

At Teutopolis

The Teutopolis girls squad took victories over Robinson and Marshall golfers Tuesday. The Wooden Shoes had a 213 score followed by Robinson 251. Marshall had two girls, not enough for a team score.

Maddie Hoene and Allie Niebrugge tied for medalist honors with a 50 each. Also scoring for the Shoes were Madison Magee 55 and Averie Bushue 58. Maggie Koester shot a 58, Allison Will 63,  Macy Vogt 65 and Mattie Thoele 65.

In boys action, Teutopolis finished second in a triangular the Effingham Country Club.

Robinson won with a 173 followed by T-town 180 and Marshall 181. Scoring for the Shoes were Carter Jansen 41, Dylan Buenker 42, Asa Hanson 48 and Will Schlink 49.

 

At Flora

Flora nabbed a victory over Altamont in action Tuesday, 158-193.

Co-medalists were Flora's Aven Kimmel and Landon Carder with a 38 each. Also scoring for the Wolves were Drew Woodrow 39 and Carter Collins 43.Non-counters were Ty Warren 46 and Will Lehman 53.

Scoring for Altamont were Grant Schmidt 43, Noah Kopplin 45, Nathan Hill 52 and Harrison Fitzjarrald 53. Non-counters were Addie Smith 57 and Austin Wendling 58.
