MACOMB -- Luke Ludwig captured third place in the Gary Saunders Golf Invitational Saturday. Ludwig shot a 40-36 -- 76.
The Bulldogs took 10th place as a team in the event. Winning was Hillsboro with 314 followed by Alleman 328, Macomb 330, Riverdale 335, Bloomington 337, Assumption 338, Pleasant Plains 346, Rochester 343, Monmouth 351, St. Anthony 352, Petersburg PORTA 372 and Olympia 428.
"Luke played a good round," said St. Anthony Coach Phil Zaccari. "He scrambled well and got up and down to finish third overall. Sorry to say we did not give him any support. Everyone else was 10 strokes over average. We are much better than we showed today. We do have a lot of short game work to do."
Also scoring for St. Anthony were Dylan Ferguson 47-43 -- 90, Nathan Schultz 41-52 -- 93 and Zach Wortman 44-49 -- 93. Non-counters were Ben Strullmyer 44-49 -- 93 and Jayden Rios 54-52 -- 106.
Assumption's Matt Cain was medalist with a 73 followed by Alex White from Hillsboro with a 76.
