The Effingham Elks Lodge 1016 is offering for youth with special needs, at risk youth or from single parent families the Second Annual Jack Connour's Memorial Youth Golf Tournament Friday, July 28.
The event will be held, weather permitting, at Cardinal Golf Course with a starting time of 8 a.m. This will be for three age groups, nine to 10 years old, 11-12 years old and 13 to 14 years old.
This is made possible with a Beacon Grant form the Elks Grand Lodge, the Efifngham Elks Lodge 1016 and assistance from Cardinal Gofl Course and Fore-Way Golf Course.
Golf balls, golf gloves, tees, trophies and lunch will be provided for those participating. Last year nine children participated and this year, they are hoping to increase that number to 18 or more with a maximum of 30.
For those that have never played golf, beginner's golf lessons will be offered prior to the main event on Saturday mornings at Fore-Way Golf Course by Curt Connours with assistance from other Elks members. Youth that already have golf clubs available tshould bring them but clubs will be provided for those who do not have any.
To sign up, contact Curt Connours at 217-663-8647, Kelly Connours at 217-663-0402 or phone the Effingham Elks Lodge at 217-342-3636. Additional information will be provided at the time of sign ups.
