The ninth annual Dr. David Bristow Memorial Golf Outing will be held on Friday, May 5, with a shot gun start at 1 pm at the Effingham Country Club.  The event is hosted by Effingham Noon and Sunrise Rotary Clubs to raise money for the fight to eradicate Polio worldwide.  Dr. Bristow was the sole pediatrician in Effingham County for over 20 years and was a strong advocate for the eradication of the disease.  Bristow was also a long time member of the Noon Rotary club before his death in 2010.

Rotary International, as a key partner in the global effort to eradicate polio, has reduced polio cases by 99 percent worldwide since its first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.  Rotarians have helped immunize more than 2 billion children against polio in 122 countries. For as little as $0.60, a child can be protected against this crippling disease for life.   “We are so close to eradicating polio, but we need our community’s help.  By playing in the outing or providing a sponsorship for the event, individuals can contribute to the global effort and protect children against polio forever,” said Becky Brown, president of the Sunrise Rotary Club.

Registration deadline is May 1.  Registration fees for golfers are:  $100 per person; $400 per team. Sponsorship Opportunities for the event include:  $500 Dinner Sponsor; $250 Putting Green, Driving Range; and $100 Hole Sponsors.  Sponsorship deadline is April 21, 2017.

To register for the outing or purchase a sponsorship, contact Landon Etheridge at 217-347-7751 or Charlie Brumleve at 217-821-8348, or any Effingham Rotarian.
