Area Players Finish Well at State Golf Tourneys

Effingham St. Anthony finished eighth as a team at the Class 1A State Girls Golf Tournament during the weekend while the Teutopolis boys squad captured 10th place.
Competing for the Bulldogs were Ava Wegman who finished with a 62-92 -- 174, Clare McHugh 87-90 -- 177, Jessica Coffin 94-96 -- 190, Abbie Schmidt 94-99 -- 193, Regan Koester 97-98 -- 195 and Abby Repking 121-113 -- 234.
Effingham High School's Alex Brummer finished tied for 29th in the Class 2A Girls Meet with 83-86 -- 169.
In the Class 1A Boys State Meet, Teutopolis captured 10th place with 701 total. Competing for the Wooden Shoes were Christian Deters 85-83 -- 168, Dylan Buenker 77-95 -- 172, Keegan Meyer 88-90 -- 178, Brayden Bushue 85-98 -- 183, Will Schlink 93-105 -- 198 and Jacob Herd 108-103 -- 211.
Effingham St. Anthony's Luke Ludwig tied for 35th place with 79-87 -- 168.
Effingham's Callaway Smith competed in the Class 2A State Meet and tied for 21st with 79-76 -155.
