EHS Boys, Girls; St. A Girls, Boys JV Claim Golf Wins

SULLIVAN -- Effingham High School captured a boys triangular golf match Wednesday.

The Hearts tallied 162 followed by Sullivan 182 and Meridian 224. Effingham's Callaway Smith reached par with a 36 and was the medalist. Also scoring were Ryan Sandifer 39, Jacob Sigg 43 and Matt Linders 44. Non-counting scores were Tate NIebrugge 45 and Aiden Beck 53.

"We are continuing to improve each night out," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "We are definitely starting to play our best golf. Callaway had another great round of even par 36. Ryan played great with a 39 and has been getting closer every time out and is a key to us moving forward. Jacob and Tate played solid again."

Scoring for Sullivan were Caden Ellis 38, Leighton Burcham 44, Tommy Schibur 46 and Lake Atchinson 54. Non-counting scores were Breton Krouse 56 and Luke Delong 57.

Scoring for Meridian were Jacob Hawkins 54, Drew Snow 55, Patrick Smith 57 and Kyle Farmer 58. Non-counting was Vincent Hogan with a 61.

The Effingham girls squad claimed a 195-197 victory over Sullivan.

Effingham'x Alex Brummer was medalist with a 42. Also scoring for the Hearts were Keira Hirtzel 46, Abbi Burgess 53 and Kennedy Collier 54. Non-counters were Jade Depoister 55 and  Lindsay Stephenson 58.

Scoring for the Redskins were Brooke Tuttle 44, Addison Darush 45, Tatum Ellis 52 and Alexis Britton 56. Iris Dulin tallied a 58.

At Olney

St. Anthony's junior varsity boys squad picked up a triangular golf win over Olney and Mount Carmel Wednesday.

The Bulldogs tallied a 172 followed by Olney 183 and Mount Carmel 186.

St. Anthony's Ethan Rozene, Mount Carmel's Hunter Fuller and Olney's Randy Goodman were medalists with a 41 each.

Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Ryan Schultz 43, Jayden Rios 44 and Jacob Schmidt 44. Non-counting scores were Zach Wortman 50, Ben Strullmyer 50, Daren Hutchison 53 and Will Willenborg 57.

Scoring for Olney were Goodman, Luke Shan 45, Coen McDowell 46 and Logan Muston 51. Non-counting were Ryan Tolliver 53, Vaden Hamilton 59 and Jayden Moyes 65.

Scoring for Mount Carmel were Fuller, Wade Ruth 47, Colten Etzkorn 47 and Clayton Halbig 51. Non-counters were Zach Kemper 58 and John Harrington 66.

At Mount Carmel

The St. Anthony girls golf team claimed a victory over Mount Carmel, 192-200.

Leading the Bulldogs were Clare McHugh 42, Ava Wegman 47, Regan Koester 51 and Abby Schmidt 52. Non-scorers were Jessica Coffin 54 and Abby Repking 55.

Mount Carmel was led by match medalist Mallory Raber who shot a 39. Other scorers were Allyson Armstrong 47, Brylie Ray 56 and Faith Witsman 58. Non-scorer was Nevaeh Brock with a 65.
