State Golf First Day Summary

Area golfers are in pretty good shape after the first day of state tournament play Friday.

The St. Anthony boys golf squad sits in eighth place after Day One at 49 over par.

Bulldogs' scores include Garrett Hixenbaugh--81, Joe Powell and Cole Buehnerkemper--83, Connor Greene and Jack Niebrugge--90, Dalton Anderson--96 for a 337 team total from the Top 4 scores.

As far as area individuals, Effingham High School senior Anthony Lechman shot an 80 in his first day in the 2A State Tournament, out in 43, in in 37.  He is tied for 24th place.

Tuscola's Cameron Westjohn, with plenty of local relatives, is in 8th place in the 1A tournament after firing a 75.  Westjohn started slowly but played under par golf over his final 12 holes to move into a tie for eighth.

On the girls' side, senior Miranda Rohlfing of St. Anthony shot an 84, 42 out, 42 in, and is tied for 26th place.
