Rend Lake College Women's Golf Team Headed to Nationals

The Rend Lake College women's golf team is headed to Nationals after a 25-stroke impropvement over round one at Weibring Golf Course in Normal recently.
RLC took the lead over John A. Logan College to place first at the Regional 24 Championship with a two-day score of 713 (369-344).
Leading for RLC in second place overall was Shelby Johnson (Greenwood, Ind.) who improved by eight strokes to finish the tournament 172 (90-82). She was followed in third place by Alexis Hammerton (Peoria) with 173 (89-84).
Morgan Wilson (Effingham) placed sixth with a score of 183 (96-87), followed by Taylor Aldridge (Eldorado) and Addie Gray (Metropolis) tying in 11th with 194 (94-100) and (103-91) respectively.
Head Coach Cindy Corn said after a rough start, the Lady Warriors took the time to work on their game and make a comeback in round two.
"We had an hour and a half of practice after the first round and it paid off. We improved by 25 shots," said Corn. "We had a really tough time adjusting to the speed of the green and we had to adjust our short game. They really worked hard as a team and we counted on everyone and their score. We will represent Region 24 at Nationals."
In addition to their top spots, Johnson also made second on the All-Region team and Hammerton placed third.
JALC finished the day in second with a score of 720 (362-358) with Adrian Brown medalling at 171 (90-81), followed by Kaskaskia College in third place at 807 (408-399).
