Effingham High School's boys and girls golf teams competed Friday in Apollo Conference meets.  The boys finished third; the girls finished fourth.

The Hearts' Jackson Wendling won the meet with a three-over 75.  Coach Jeff Schafer said, "Jackson Wendling played a great round of golf to win the conference meet.  Jackson has worked very hard and I am proud of his effort today."

Anthony Lechman also made all-conference for the Hearts with a 79.

Schafer was not happy with the rest of the squad's performance.  He said, "Other than Jackson's individual performance, the rest of the day was disappointing.  We had a great opportunity to win this and we didn't get it done.  We have some kids that are really disappointed that they didn't perform better.  We just have to learn from today's experience and execute better next week."
