Effingham captured the championshp of the Taylorville Golf Tournament.

TAYLORVILLE -- Effingham High School captured the championship of the Taylorville Boys Golf Invitational Saturday at Lakeshore Golf Course.

The Hearts won with 348 followed in the top three by Chatham Glenwood 350 and Williamsville 350.

"The conditions were the toughest we have faced all year," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "I can't say enough about how the kids hung in there and battled. Three-fourty-eight being the winning score tells how tough the course played. Callaway finished second, missing medalist honors by one. Reed also earned a top 10 plaque with his 84. Hopefully, we can battle like this on Tuesday and advance to the sectional.

Callaway Smith finished with a seven-over par 79 while Reed Schafer tallied an 84, Matt Linders a 90 and Ryan Sandifer a 95. Jacob Sigg tallied a 96.
