Callaway Leads EHS To Boys Victory, Area Golf Roundup

Effingham High School's Callaway Smith led the Hearts to another boys golf victory Wednesday at the Effingham Country Club.

Smith shot a 2-under-par 34 as the Hearts beat Taylorville 165-187. Also scoring for EHS were Matt Linders 42, Reed Schafer 43 and Ryan Sandifer 46. Non-counting scores were Jacob Sigg 51 and Michael Woltman 56.

Taylorville's Connor Black shot a 39 followed by Ben Dorchinez 46, Logan Harris 47 and Kaycee Robinson 55. Non-counting scores were Victor Kinderman 57 and Miranda Coy 59.

"Callaway conitnued his fine play with a two-under 34,"' said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer."Matt also did a great job tonight."

The Hearts improve to 10-3 on the season.

 

At Effingham

Effingham claimed a triangular girls golf meet. The Hearts scored 180 followed by Teutopolis 220 and Paris 260.

The Hearts' Alex Brummer was medalist with a 38. Also scoring for the Hearts were Hope Collier 44, Kaylee Tonn 49 and Madison Weis 49. Non-counting scores were Keira Hirtzel 53 and Abbi Burgess 66.

Scoring for Teutopolis were Maddie Hoene 50, Katie Thoele 53, Madison Magee 57 and Allie Niebrugge 60.

 

At Centralia

Altamont continued to roll along by scoring a 165-200 win over Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Wednesday.

Medalist was Altamont's Dylan Miller with a 35 followed by teammates Adam Mayhaus 42, Grant Schmidt 43 and Luke Behl 45. Non-counters were Cameron Jackman 50 and Logan Deadmond 50. The Indians are 12-4.

Scoring for CORL were Lucas Wessel 38, Tyler Fleeman 48, Jordan Bent 53 and Hayden Johnston 61. Non-counters were Ethan Boester 62 and Nathan Ellis 63.

Altamont JV scorers were Noah Koplin 50 and Austin Wendling 63. Centralia JV scores were Tanner Hoyt 47, Hunter Martin 47, Robby Smith 48, Abe Applegate 49, Chaise Ried 51 and Brody Venable 52.

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony picked up a boys junior varsity win over Teutopolis and Effingham Wednesday at Fore Way Golf Course.

The Bulldogs tallied a 169 followed by Teutopolis 192 and Effingham 230. Scoring for St. Anthony were medalist Dylan Ferguson 37, Trey Koester 40, Nathan Schultz 46 and Will Willenborg 46.

Carter Jansen had a 43 for the Wooden Shoes followed by Jacob Herd 44, Will Schlink 49 and Joey Runde 56.

Cole Hagen had a 51 for the Heartrs while Nate Linders added a 56, Colby Heaton a 61 and Nick Beck a 62.

At Fore Way Golf Course

St. Anthony -- Dylan Ferguson 37, Trey Koester 40, Nathan Schultz 46, Will Willenborg 46, Alex Erickson 48, Augie Heal 50, Zach Worman 50, Ethan Rozene 51

Teutopolis -- Carter Jansen 43, Jacob Herd 44, Will Schlink 49, Joey Runde 56, Asa Hanson 56, Alex Thoele 59, Adam Kramer 69

At Mattoon

Mattoon picked up a triangular boys golf victory at the Mattoon Country Club.

The Green Wave won with 162 followed by Shelbyville 185 and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 193. Neoga's Luke Baker also participated and finished tied for second with a 40.

WSS Tristan Warner tied for second with a 40. Also scoring were Zach VanHyfte 46, Luke Gilbert 51 and Logan Stremming 56. Sterling Howard tallied a 67.

Matton's Nichols Nguyen was medalist with a 38.
