Bulldogs Fourth At Centralia Golf Invitational

CENTRALIA -- Effingham St. Anthony nabbed fourth place in the 18-team Centralia Better Ball Golf Invitational Saturday.
Edwardsville won the meet with 203 points followed by Belleville Althoff 214, Centralia 220, Marion 221, St. Anthony 224, Mascoutah 229, O'Fallon 233, Belleville West 234, Breese Mater Dei 236, Highland 239, Herrin 245, Salem 246, Belleville East 248, Nashville 251, Granite City 255 and Alton 259. Carbondale and Mount Vernon did not have a team score.
Edwardsville's Justin Hemings was medalist with a 63 at the Greenview Golf Course. St. Anthony's Jared Hutchison and Mitchell Sager captured seventh place with a 33-37 -- 70.
Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Niko Dust/Jacob Schmidt with a 37-35 -- 72 and Jeff Niebrugge/Luke Ludwig 40-42 -- 82.
At Charleston
St. Anthony finished fifth and Effingham sixth in the Charleston Golf Invitational Friday.
Mattoon won the team championship with a 328 followed by Champaign Central 329, Charleston 330, Monticello 333, St. Anthony 338, Effingham 342, Centennial 345, Danville 345, Rantoul PBL 349, Urbana 359, Robinson 362, Mount Zion 363, Bloomington 365, Paris 388, Olney 392 and Charleston 408.
High scorer for St. Anthony was Jared Hutchison with an 80. Also scoring were Luke Ludwig 81, Niko Dust 82 and Jacob Schmidt 95. Non-counting scorers were Mitchell Sager 996 and Jeff Niebrugge 97.
Effingham's Callaway Smith had a 76 followed by Reed Schafer 89, Ryan Sandifer 90 and Jacob Sigg 87. Non-counting were Matt Linders 93 and Nate Linders 101.
Medalist was Mattoon's Nichols Nguyen with a 74. Second went to Robinson's Mason McKee with a 75. Neoga's Luke Baker finished with a 77.
At Effingham
In a girls meet at Fore Way Golf Course, St. Anthony claimed the triangular win with 186 followed by Effingham 192 and Teutopolis 212.
Medalist was St. Anthony's Abbie Schmidt with a 42. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Ava Wegman 44, Kyla Burton 49 and Abby Repking 51.
Scoring for the Hearts were Hope Collier 44, Kaylee Tonn 46, Alex Brummer 47 and Madison Weiss 55.
Scoring for Teutopolis were Maddie Hoene 49, Katie Thoele 50, Allie Niebrugge 55 and Madison Magee 58.
