EHS Girls, Boys Nab Golf Victories

MATTOON -- The Effingham High School girls golf team picked up a triangular meet victory Thursday.

The Hearts tallied 177 followed by Effingham St. Anthony 199 and Mattoon 218. Alex Brummer was the medalist with a 39 for the Hearts.  Also scoring were Hope Collier 45, Keira Hirtzel 46, Kaylee Tonn 47, Madison Weis 56 and Abbi Burgess 61.

The Bulldogs scoring came from Abby Schmidt 45, Ava Wegman 46, Kyla Burton 53, Regan Koester 55, Clarie McHugh 56 and Abby Repking 68.

For Mattoon, Cassi Dow had a 53, Natalie Zimmer 54, Kaylee Nottmeyer 54, Alissa Nichols 57 and Hannah Retzer 70.

 

At Effingham

The EHS boys golf squad played host to Casey-Westfield and nabbed a 158-211 victory.

"We are starting to really gel a lot right now," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "We are slowly eliminating the mental errors and accepting the bogeys and moving on to the next hole. Reed followed up Callaway's great one-under performance last night with a two-under par 34. Ryan is starting to play good and Callaway was right there again. We have big tournaments at Charleston and Mattoon for conference Monday. We need to carry this momentum forward."

The Hearts scores were Reed Schafer 34, Callaway Smith 40, Ryan Sandifer 40, Matt Linders 44, Jacob Sigg 46 and Michael Woltman 51. EHS is now 9-3.

Scores for Casey-Westfield were Kaleb Repp 48, Patrick Hacker 51, Ashton Rodgers 56, Garrett Oakley 56, Tanner Brown 63 and Tannor Wilson 69.

 

At Mattoon

Effingham St. Anthony claimed a junior varsity win over Mattoon at Meadowview Golf Course Thursday.

The Bulldogs had a 180 with scoring coming from Ethan Rozene, the medalist, with a 42, Zach Wortman 46, Trey Koester 46 and Augie Heal 46. Non-counters were Nathan Schultz and Alex Erickson 49.

Scoring for Mattoon vs. Remington Morrison 43, Lane Gass 46, Kaden Hyland 46 and Deacon Latuno 47. Non-counters were Tanner Romine 53 and Mason Phipps 56.

 

At Shelbyville

Teutopolis tallied a triangular win over Shelbyville and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Thursday.

The Shoes scored 166 followed by Shelbyville 192 and WSS 203. Medalist was T-town's Christian Deters with a 39.

Also scoring for the Shoes were Dylan Buenker 42, Braydan Bushue 42, Austin Weber 43, Keegan Meyer 44 and Mat Weber 44.

T-town is now 11-6 on the season.

 

At Ramsey

Altamont won a dual match over Ramsey 156-162. Scoring for the Indians were Adam Myahaus with a 36, Dylan Miller with a 39, Logan Deadmond with a 40 and Cameron Jackman with a 41. Non-counters were Grant Schmidt 41, Luke Behl 44, Noah Kopplin 47 and Austin Wendling 54.

Scoring for Ramsey were medalist Brady Reiss with a 35, Marckus Coss 42, Mason Fesser 42 and Cameron Neisler 43. Non-counters were Logan Ernst 46 and Zeke Cassidy 49.
