Bulldogs Win Boys Dual Meet, Area Golf Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony High School played host to Champaign St. Thomas More in boys golf competition at the Effingham Country Club Tuesday.
The Bulldogs picked up a 170-181 victory. St. Thomas More's Tyler Vodacek was medalist for the meet with a 41. Scoring for St. Anthony were Niko Dust 42, Luke Ludwig 42, Jared Hutchison 43 and Jeff Niebrugge 43.
Non-counters for the Bulldogs were Trey Koester 45, Mitchell Sager 48, Jacob Schmidt 49 and Nathan Schultz 50.
Scoring for St. Thomas More, along with Vodacek, were Michael Lee 43, Lucas Tay 47, Jack Piefer 50 and Nolan Plaisance 71.
In the girls meet, St. Anthony claimed a 211-222 win over St. Thomas More. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Ava Wegman 48, Abbie Schmidt 51, Kyla Burton 55 and Regan Koester 57.
At Taylorville
Effingham finished second in a quadrangular meet at Taylor Lake Shore Golf Course Tuesday.
Mount Zion won with a total of 162 followed by Effingham 176, Taylorville 178 and Shelbyville 186.
Mount Zion's Danny Miller finished even par 36 to gain medalist honors. He was followed by teammate Ben Cleveland with a 38.
Scoring for the Hearts were Callaway Smith 40, Ryan Sandifer 44, Reed Schafer 46 and Matt Linders 46.

At Charleston
Charleston captured a victory in a girls triangular meet Tuesday at the Charleston Country Club.
The Trojans tallied 178 followed by Teutopolis 216 and Tuscola 221. Medalist was Lauren Chappell of Charleston with a 36.
Scoring for the Wooden Shoes were Madison Magee 50, Katie Thoele 54, Maddie Hoene 56 and Allie Niebrugge 56.
At Pana
Teutopolis' Christian Deters was medalist with an even par 36 as the Shoes defeated host Pana 163-176 Tuesday.
Dylan Buenker had a 41, Braydan Bushue a 43, Mat Weber a 43 and Keegan Meyer a 49. Jacob Herd had a 51 as a non-counting score.
