EHS Shoots 150 in Victory

Effingham High School hosted Newton at the Effingham Country Club Monday and handed the Eagles a 150-193 loss.
"Anthony Barrett and Jake Linders whipped in with 40's," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "Reed Schafer had his best varsity round of 42. We have a tough match tomorrow against a very talented Mount Zion team. We will have to play very good to win."
Scoring for the Hearts were Jackson Wendling with a three-under par 33, Anthony Lechman with a one-over-par 37, Barrett with a 40 and Linders with a 40. Non-scorers were Schafer with a 42 and Sean Sandifer with a 44.
Scoring for Newton were Phil Blank with a 40, Elijah Knepper with a 47, Evan Brooks with a 51 and Brandon Bigard with a 55. Non-scorers were Anthony Fuesting 60 and Kyle Ochs 71.
Effingham improves to 5-1 while Newton drops to 7-6. The Hearts travel to Mount Zion today for a 3:30 p.m. match. Newton will play host to Olney at 4 p.m.
