Rams Release Injury Report
(Earth City, MO) -- The St. Louis Rams were without four players at yesterday's practice. Missing were running back Zac Stacy, tight end Lance Kendricks, guard Harvey Dahl and quarterback Brady Quinn. The Rams are at the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
McClellin Honored By NFL
(New York, NY) -- Bears defensive end Shea McClellin was named the NFC's Defensive Player of the Week Wednesday. McClellin was selected as the defensive winner after posting five tackles and three sacks in a 27-20 win over Green Bay Monday. He also knocked Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers out of the game on the first series of the contest with a sack that fractured his left collarbone.
Dolphins' Martin Is Out Of Hospital
Dolphins lineman Jonathan Martin is out of the hospital but remains away from the team as he gets help for emotional problems in the aftermath of alleged bullying by teammates. ESPN says Martin was at a Florida hospital briefly before returning to California where he is receiving counseling. Martin has filed a formal complaint of player misconduct, with teammate Richie Incognito allegedly sending him texts and voicemails with racial slurs.
Wade Phillips Named Texas' Interim Head Coach
(Houston, TX) -- Wade Phillips is temporarily taking over as head coach of the Houston Texans. Houston announced the position move Wednesday, as head coach Gary Kubiak recovers from a mini-stroke he suffered during Sunday's game against Indianapolis. Kubiak is out of the hospital but it's not known when he'll return to the sidelines. Phillips has previously been the head coach of the Cowboys, Broncos and Bills.
Hall Of Fame QB Parker Dies At 101
(Canton, OH) -- Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Clarence "Ace" Parker is dead. He passed away Wednesday at the age of 101. Parker was inducted into the Hall in 1972. Parker starred for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1937-41 and won the NFL's MVP in 1940. After serving in World War Two, he returned to the NFL in 1945 with the Boston Yanks and played one more season in 1946 with the rival All-America Football Conference.
