(Allen Park, MI) -- Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is celebrating his new contract extension. The 25-year-old signal-caller has signed a three-year extension through 2017 worth a reported $53-million. Stafford says he's excited to have his future secure in Detroit.
Combined with the two years remaining on his existing contract, the "Detroit Free Press" reports Stafford will make around $76-million over the next five years, $43-million of which is guaranteed. The Georgia product passed for nearly 5,000 yards and 20 touchdowns for Detroit last season.
