NEWTON -- Newton High School went down to a 36-28 defeat against Robinson during football homecoming festivities Friday.

The Maroons edged out to an 8-6 opening quarter lead and scored three touchdowns while the Eagles had one to lead 29-14 at halftime.

Newton came back with a 14-7 second half but it was not enough.

Newton's second touchdown came in the second quarter and pushed the Eagles ahead 14-8. Tarr carried the ball from the 20-yard line into the endzone. The point after was a Meinhart to Drake Wolf handoff and Wolf went into the end zone and the Eagles led 14-8.

Newton scored a touchdown in the third quarter as Meinhart handed off to Cole Phillips who went in from 33 yards out to score. But the point after failed and Newton trailed 29-20. Robinson then scored to push farther ahead, 36-30
