Hearts Face Tough Chore at Mahomet-Seymour

The Effingham Hearts face a tough test Friday night, heading to Mahomet to take on the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs in Apollo Conference football action. Kickoff is at 7pm, with pre-game coverage 15 minutes before kickoff. Hear the action on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.

Effingham pulled to even on the season with a 55-12 Homecoming victory last Friday night. The win left the Hearts at 3-3 and 2-1 in conference play. The Hearts opened the season with a 31-7 win at Robinson, then lost in overtime 36-30 to Mt. Carmel and 36-14 to Breese Mater Dei. Effingham beat Mattoon 42-21, then fell at Charleston 21-17 before last week's win over Taylorville.

Mahomet-Seymour is 5-1 on the season. The Bulldogs lost to Morton 20-14 on opening night, but have since reeled off five straight wins, 28-0 over Highland, 42-14 over Quincy Notre Dame, 49-21 over Charleston, 48-0 over Taylorville, and 26-7 last week over Mt. Zion. The Bulldogs are 3-0 in conference play.

Effingham's Weldon Dunston could top the 1,000-yard season rushing mark in Friday's contest.
