Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin is showing strong  improvement and is “beginning to awaken,” a doctor from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center said Thursday in an update.

Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during a game on Monday. He is still “critically ill,” said Doctor Timothy Pritts, but was able to communicate in writing with a nurse and appears to have no lasting neurological damage.

His first question was whether the Bills won the game against Cincinnati.
