Players Could Face Fines

The NFL sent out a memo to players this week informing them that they could face “significant fines” if they break the tablets they were issued.

The memo was a clear reference to the antics of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, who trashed a Microsoft Surface tablet last Sunday in a fit of temper during the Bucs’ game against the New Orleans Saints.

A later report said Brady broke another one on the sidelines during the game, and a third got stepped on by accident. In a radio appearance, Brady joked that he was aiming for “the perfect tablet slam,” but the NFL might not have thought that was funny.

Favre's NFL Radio Show Shut Down

SiriusXM has shut down Brett Favre's show on NFL radio for now. Favre has been hosting “The Sirius XM Blitz with Brett Favre and Bruce Murray” since 2018.

ESPN Milwaukee has also stopped Favre’s weekly appearances. Favre has been caught up in a Mississippi scandal over misuse of federal funds intended for services to the poor. The Hall of Fame quarterback received money from the fund for speeches he never gave and sought more funding for a volleyball arena at the University of Southern Mississippi. He denies any wrongdoing.

Georgia Tech Fires Geoff Collins

Georgia Tech is firing coach Geoff Collins, according to a report in the ‘Atlanta Journal-Constitution.’ That would make Collins the third casualty among Power Five school coaches in just three weeks. Scott Frost was fired from Nebraska and Hern Edwards lost his job at Arizona State.
