The 22-year-old, who was chosen 44th in the first round of this year’s draft, said he has acute promyelocytic leukemia, which he called “the most curable form” of the disease.
He said he expects “to make a recovery at a later point in time.” Because of his illness, Metchie said he “likely” won't be playing this season.
