One day after retired former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees floated the possibility in a tweet of returning to the NFL, Saints head coach Dennis Allen threw cold water on the speculcation Monday.

ESPN reported that Allen said, “I think it was a comment made in jest, and we certainly haven’t had any conversations in that regard.”

Brees was responding to a report that he was leaving NBC after one year of football broadcasting, saying, in part, “[I]’m currently undecided. I may work for NBC, I may play football again, I may focus on business and philanthropy, I may train for the pickleball tour, senior golf tour, coach my kids or all the above.”

Watson To Meet With NFL Officials

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is scheduled to meet with NFL officials this week, according to media reports Monday.

The NFL is investigating whether Watson violated the league’s code of conduct, after 22 lawsuits were brought against him by women accusing him of inappropriate sexual conduct during massages.

Watson denies any wrongdoing, and two Texas grand juries have declined to indict the ex-Houston Texans player on criminal charges.
