The Virginia attorney general’s office will open an investigation into allegations of financial improprieties by the Washington Commanders, according to a letter it sent the NFL team Monday.

A former VP of sales and customer service for Washington has alleged that the team withheld security deposits from season-ticket holders or made them hard to obtain, and kept money that should have gone to the NFL’s revenue sharing pool. The Commanders have denied any wrongdoing.
