EHS Beats Taylorville In Frosh/Soph Football

Effingham High School claimed a 26-16 victory over Taylorville in freshman/sophomore/junior varsity football competition Monday.

The Hearts ran off to a 12-0 opening quarter lead. Max Sechrist scored on a one yard run. Josue Vergel then tallied the second touchdown on a 10 yard run.

Taylorville came back within 12-8 at halftime on a 62 yard pass play.

The Hearts' Weldon Dunston then pushed the lead to 18-8 on a 72 yard run in the third quarter.

Effingham scored a final touchdown in the fourth period on a 30 yard run by Vergel. Taylorville tallied on a 48 yard pass play and that's where the scoring ended.

The Hearts had 258 yards rushing.

EHS was led by Sechrist with five solo tackles, Brodie Belcher with four solos and three assists and Michael Love with three solos and four assists.
