EHS Frosh Football Falls To Mount Zion

MOUNT ZION -- Effingham High School's freshman/sophomore football team fell to host Mount Zion Monday, 6-0.

The lone touchdown for the Braves came in the final quarter on a 10 yard pass play.

John Westendorf had 15 rushes for the Hearts for 89 yards. Colton Loy caught one pass for 14 yards while Garrett Wolfe caught two passes for 13 yards.

Gaige Gillum threw three passes for 27 yards.

Defensively, the Hearts were led by Evan Waymoth and London Rinkel with 11 tackles each.

Offensively, EHS lost five fumbles, two inside the 10-yard line, which was the difference in the game.

The Hearts are now 2-2 on the season and will host the final game Monday against Lincoln.
