Jay Hopson Resigns at Southern Miss

Jay Hopson has resigned as football coach at Southern Miss after a season-opening 32-21 loss Thursday to South Alabama.

School athletic director Jeremy McClain announced the news Monday. Hopson said, “I am in total agreement with this change in leadership and truly believe it is in the best interest of the players, coaches and this entire program.” Hopson became coach in 2016 and had a 28-23 record.
