Ex-NFL Player Tarvaris Jackson Killed In Crash

Ex-NFL quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, who played for the Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills over 10 seasons, was killed in an Alabama car crash Sunday night. He was 36.

Officials said Monday the car Jackson was driving went off the road, hit a tree and overturned. Jackson, whose NFL career ended after the 2015 season, was hired as quarterbacks coach for Tennessee State last season. 

 

Panthers' McCaffrey Signs Extension

Carolina Panthers star Christian McCaffrey is signing a four-year extension that will make him the highest-paid running back in NFL history, ESPN reported Monday. The 23-year-old McCaffrey, who was in the fourth year of his rookie deal, will average $16 million per year under the extension.

 

XLF Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

The XFL’s parent company, Alpha Entertainment, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Monday, after the new football league suspended operations and laid off almost all employees Friday. The XFL blamed the coronavirus pandemic. League owner Vince McMahon announced the XFL’s return in 2018 and it debuted in February with eight teams. But it only played five weeks before suspending and then canceling its first season due to pandemic, initially promising it would return in 2021.
