Estimated 99.9 Million Watch Super Bowl

An estimated 99.9 million people watched the Super Bowl on Sunday, tuning in to watch the Kansas City Chiefs mount a 31-20 comeback victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

That reversed a four-year decline in viewership for the most-watched TV event of the year from its peak of 114.4 million in 2015, up from 98.5 million last year. Fox, which aired the game, estimated that there were 102 million viewers in total when people who streamed the game are taken into account.

 

Chiefs' Nnadi Pays For Dogs Adoption Fees

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi is celebrating his team's Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers by helping dogs in need of homes. The KC Pet Project announced that Nnadi will pay the adoption fees for all the dogs available at its Missouri and Kansas locations, which is more than 100 dogs. Nnadi's first partnered with the KC Pet Project in September, and every time the Chiefs won a game this season, he paid the adoption fee for one dog.

 

HOF Willie Wood Dies

NFL Hall of Famer Willie Wood, a defensive back who won five NFL championships with the Green Bay Packers, died on Monday. He was 83. Wood had a key interception in the first Super Bowl in 1967, and had a 31-yard punt return in the second Super Bowl that stood as a record for 16 years. Wood was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989.
