Hearts' Hefner Looking Forward to An Exciting 2019 Season

The Effingham Hearts' football squad has trended way upward during the past two seasons, reaching the second round of the playoffs in 2017 and then making it to the quarterfinals for the first time in 30 years in 2018. Some, including Hearts Coach Brett Hefner, believe that one less fumble here and one more play made there and the Hearts could have made it past that third round contest to who knows where.

That, along with the departure of some key starters due to graduation, could make one think that lower expectations would be the order for this season. 

Until you realize that some folks thought that same thing last season after Terrence Hill's graduation, and look what happened!

So, the Hearts are full of optimism heading into Opening Night at Breese Mater Dei on Friday, August 30. Eight defensive starters back and some bright spots on offense are behind that optimism.
