Players Named To All-Area Football Teams

The Decatur Herald & Review named its All-Area Football Teams.
Named the Player of the Year was Taylorville's Brandon Odam. Odam, the quarterback, threw for 3,578 yards, completing 70 percent of his passes for 40 touchdowns. He rushed for 83 yards and scored 13 times. The Tornadoes finished out the season in the Class 4A quarterfinals.
Named Coach of the Year was Monticello's Cully Welter. Welter led the Sages to a perfect season and a state championship in Class 3A.
Odam was named to the Offense First Team along with Effingham's Jason Bowlin, a senior offensive lineman. Other members of the team include Braden Snyder, senior, quarterback from Monticello, Alek Bundy, a senior running back from Monticello, Austin Hopkins, a junior running back from Arcola, Justin Wright, a senior wide receiver from Taylorville, Jacob Paradee, a junior wide receiver from Central A&M, Asher Bradd, a senior, wide receiver from Monticello, CJ Picazo, a senior offensive lineman from Tuscola, Grant Mose, a junior offensive lineman from Shelbyville, Huge Garza, a junior offensive lineman from Arcola, Payton Smith, a senior offensine lineman from Mattoon and Cade Kresin, a senior kicker from Tuscola.
On the First Team Defense were Kendall Ballman, a senior defensive back from Effingham, Byrce Chance, a senior defensive lineman from Newton, Sam Nollman, a senior defensive lineman from Pana, Jarit Medler, a senior defensive lineman from Central A&M, Riley Austin, a senior defensive lineman from Monticello, Jackson Nichols, a senior defensive lineman from Mattoon, Riley Buschon, a senior, linebacker from Taylorville, Joel Blesky, a senior linebacker from Shelbyville, Christian Reynolds, a senior linebacker from Clinton, Will Kettelkamp, a senior defensive back from Taylorville, Ben Dixon, a junior defensive back from Tuscola, Devin Graham, a junior defensive back from Monticello and Connor Hutchins, a junior punter from Central A&M.
