Rochester suffered a rare loss in high school football in Week 5. Here's a look at other top rated teams with some ties to the area.

The Rockets were top-rated in Class 4A before a 45-6 thrashing at the hands of 6A power Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin. It was Rochester's first loss of the season.

In Class 5A, Highland, the team that knocked Effingham out of the playoffs last season, improved to 5-0 with a 44-14 win over Triad.

In Class 4A, undefeated Taylorville, atop the Apollo Conference and rated third in the state, beat Lincoln 43-26. Breese Mater Dei, who defeated the Hearts in the season opener and is now 5-0, beat Breese Central 33-7.

In Class 3A, Vandalia, now 5-0, beat Piasa Southwestern 48-14.

In Class 2A, #10 rated Marshall lost to Olney Richland County 50-14.
