Packers' Ryan Out For Season With Torn ACL

Green Bay Packers linebacker Jake Ryan tore the ACL in his right knee during practice on Monday and will require surgery. The team says Ryan will miss the entire season.
Patriots Release Matthews
The New England Patriots have released wide receiver Jordan Matthews. The team recently acquired Matthews, but he suffered what was described as a serious hamstring injury during training camp and hasn’t practiced since.
Colts' Mewhort Retires
Indianapolis Colts offensive tackle Jack Mewhort announced his retirement yesterday. Mewhort was a second-round pick in 2014, but injuries cut his last two seasons short.
Seahawks' Bladwin Suffers Knee Injury
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin suffered an unspecified knee injury that could force him to miss most, if not all, of the preseason. However, doctors are confident that he’ll ready for the start of the regular season.
Right guard J.R. Sweezy has returned to the Seattle Seahawks. Sweezy was a starter with the team during its 2013 Super Bowl season. Sweezy signed with Tampa Bay following the 2015 season, but missed all of the 2016 season due to a back injury and broke his fibula late last season.
Ohio State Coach On Leave
Ohio State has placed head football coach Urban Meyer on administrative leave following reports that he lied about having knowledge of a 2015 domestic violence allegation involving an OSU assistant coach. Ryan Day will serve as acting head coach during the investigation.
