EIU Releases Game Times For Football Schedule

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois football has released game times for the 2018 home schedule as the Panthers wrapped up spring practice last Saturday with the annual Blue-White Spring Game.

This year’s home schedule opens on Sept. 15 with EIU hosting Indiana State.  The two teams resumed their long-time rivalry last season with the Panthers winning with a touchdown with six seconds remaining.  The game will be the first of two home games under the lights at O’Brien Field this year with a 6 p.m. kickoff.

EIU will then host Tennessee State for the Ohio Valley Conference opener on Sept. 22 with a 2 p.m. kickoff.  That will be Family Weekend on the EIU campus.

The Panthers host Murray State on Oct. 6 for Hall of Fame with a 6 p.m. kickoff.

UT Martin will be this year’s homecoming opponent for EIU with a 2 p.m. kickoff on Oct. 20

The final home game of the season will be on Nov. 10 with the Panthers hosting Austin Peay at 1 p.m.

EIU opens the regular season on Sept. 1 playing at Southeastern Conference member Arkansas.  EIU will then travel to Illinois State on Sept. 8 for the Mid-America Classic.

EIU’s four OVC road games this season include Tennessee Tech (Sept. 29), Jacksonville State (Oct. 13), Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 27) and Southeast Missouri (Nov. 17).

Head coach Kim Dameron will be entering his fifth season after leading EIU to its third straight winning season last year with a 6-5 record.
