NFL owners have voted in favor of a new rule that calls for a 15-yard penalty for using the crown of the helmet to initiate a hit. However, unlike college football, a player won’t be ejected for such a hit. The owners also approved simplified language for what constitutes a catch.
The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with quarterback Blaine Gabbert and offensive lineman Xavier Su'a-Filo. Gabbert is expected to replace Matt Cassel as Marcus Mariota's backup.
The Seattle Seahawks released quarterback Trevone Boykin shortly after his girlfriend accused him of physical assault in a TV interview. The girlfriend claimed the assault occurred in Texas last week, although he denies the accusations.
Johnny Manziel threw at another scouting showcase Tuesday, this time at Texas A&M. Manziel also spoke with reps from several NFL teams.
